Why we built this blog (and what to expect from it)

An introduction to the SIA Enterprise blog — practical writing on AI, automation, and modern software for small business owners and local government teams. No fluff, no hype.

If you found your way to this blog, there's a good chance you fall into one of two camps: you run a small business and you keep hearing that "AI will change everything," or you work inside a county or municipal department and you've been told it's time to "modernize." Either way, you probably want straight answers about what actually works, what it costs, and how to get started without setting fire to your budget or your evenings.

That's exactly what this blog is for.

Who's writing this

My name is Fode Guirassy and I'm the founder of SIA Enterprise VA LLC, a Virginia-based technology consultancy. I spent the last few years building data pipelines, web platforms, and automation systems for organizations of all sizes, and I started SIA Enterprise to bring that same kind of work to two groups that rarely get good, honest tech help:

  • Local small businesses — restaurants, retail shops, service businesses, family-owned operations
  • County and municipal teams — finance offices buried in spreadsheets, permit departments still running on paper

Both groups deserve better than what the market currently offers them. Enterprise software is built for Fortune 500s. DIY tools work until they don't. And most agencies either ghost you after the contract is signed or charge $50,000 for a website you could get for $5,000.

We're building SIA Enterprise to be the alternative. This blog is part of that.

What you'll find here

I'm going to focus on three kinds of writing, all in plain English:

1. Tool reviews and comparisons

There are a thousand AI tools and "automation platforms" out there. Most are forgettable. A handful are genuinely useful. I'll cut through the noise and write honest reviews of the ones worth your attention — what they do, what they cost, what they're best for, and where they fall short.

Examples coming soon:

  • Best AI tools for small businesses under $100/month
  • ChatGPT vs Claude vs Gemini for SMB owners
  • AI bookkeeping software for solo founders

2. How-to guides

Buying the tool is the easy part. Actually setting it up and making it useful — that's where most people get stuck. I'll write step-by-step guides for the common workflows that matter most:

  • How to automate customer follow-up emails with ChatGPT
  • How to set up an AI-powered appointment booking system
  • How to digitize a paper permit process for a small county department

3. Industry-specific writing

A restaurant owner has different problems than a property manager, who has different problems than a county finance office. I'll write guides specific to the industries we serve — including the West African diaspora business community, which has unique needs around cross-border commerce, payments, and bilingual operations.

What this blog won't be

A few promises about what I'm not going to do here:

  • I won't write breathless hype about "AI will replace every job by Tuesday." That's not useful.
  • I won't recommend tools I haven't actually used.
  • I won't pad articles with filler to hit word counts.
  • I won't write affiliate posts disguised as honest reviews. When there's an affiliate link, I'll tell you, and the recommendation will stand on its own.
  • I won't pretend something is easy when it isn't. Some of this stuff is genuinely tricky, and I'll say so.

How to follow along

If you want new articles in your inbox as they go live, the easiest way is to book a free consultation with us — I'll add you to the list automatically. (And if you have an actual project you want to talk through, even better.)

You can also just bookmark this page and check back. We'll be publishing 2–4 new articles per month, with the first batch focused on the AI tools small businesses and local governments are actually adopting in 2026.

A quick note on who this is really for

This blog is written for the owner-operator and the practitioner inside a small public-sector team. If you're a Fortune 500 CIO looking for enterprise AI strategy, there are better blogs for you. If you're a venture-backed startup founder, you have your own conference circuit.

But if you're the person who:

  • Knows your business better than anyone
  • Has been doing the work yourself for years
  • Sees an opportunity to use modern tools to free up some of your time or grow your reach
  • Wants someone to explain it to you like you're smart but busy

— that's exactly who I'm writing for.

Welcome aboard. Let's get to work.
